I love checking out my fave blogs for daily inspiration. Today I checked in at Making it Lovely and found a link to the cutest thing on Etsy: couple stamps! Lise Grossmann, owner of shop lilimandrill uses a photo of you and your sweetheart to sketch a couple portrait for your perusal and when given the ok, creates the most amazing little stamp that can be used to customise anything wedding related (think place cards, menus, thank yous or even invitation envelopes).
And the best thing? The whole process will only set you back $70US (so with our exchange rate, it’s close to $67AUD at the moment). If you’re keen to see more, check out the flickr photo set…
Sometime at the beginning of last year I noticed whilst exploring all of the SoCo wedding blogs I love that the new vogue business seemed to be vintage rentals. These companies were designed to help couples, designers and planners the opportunity to style their events with the most beautiful vintage accessories all with the greatest of ease. I thought to myself “I’ve gots to get myself one of those companies, they’re going to be HUGE in Australia”. But sadly I did not. But another web search this morning turned up some smart individuals who had (or actually got in years ago, clever little muffins!). Visit the three sites below if you are after some top quality fine china, vintage furniture (in varying states of condition), chandeliers, crystal accessories and other knick knacks that will give your day that beautiful whimsy and handmade aesthetic so coted by today’s brides.
The best thing about these companies they also offer sales – if you fall in love with something, it can be yours!
I was always dubious about the wedding video. I think that many times good, cinematic wedding videography is hard to find. There needs to be an art to not only how a wedding is shot but also how it is edited. There needs to be care, precision and above all else an excellent eye for capturing the fleeting moments that build emotion on your big day.
So, imagine how excited I was when I came across Paper Cranes Productions, a team of filmmakers and videographers from Sydney. Every single member of the team is passionate about about telling the story of your wedding day visually through the language of film. And it shows.
I was granted access to all of their film ‘trailers’ and given the option of which I’d showcase here. It was hard to narrow my choices down because they are all so visually stunning and stirring. I can honestly say that I had teared up at some stage in each video (and they last less than five minutes!). But I chose Andy and San’s video because it has a particularly lovely spark of romance, a sense of fun and it is clear that the couple really put themselves into their day…have a look at the screencaps below to whet your appetite and then sit back and enjoy their beautiful video.
And now…the video. Get your tissues and ensure no-one is watching you!
Glenn Weaver of Still Love Photography is truly a special talent. He is able to document your day in a way that almost makes flicking through your wedding album better than the actual day. With a training in fine arts fashion photography and a passion for capturing the essence of you as a couple, Glenn is able to eternalise those tiny, fleeting moments that make your day yours.
Fun and whimsical, serious and specific; Glenn’s Still Love images are pretty, detailed and oh-so-you. Here are some tasters he sent across to us. I can’t wait to feature one of his complete, real weddings.
Glenn is based out of Perth but works throughout regional WA also. Keep coming back for more Still Love weddings in the future!
I am constantly blown away by the talented people who work within the wedding industry. I think they often get a tough time from people because they are “wedding” vendors. What we don’t appreciate is that they are real artists who have the gumption and the talent to be able to successfully bring your special day to life and then capture it with truth, love and art.
This is a call to all Aussie photographers to let me help you get your name and work out there. I want to support you all. You can check out our submissions page for more information or else email me some of your work to oursweetloveblog [at] gmail [dot] com.
Can’t wait to work together!
I’ve been fortunate in my online career to have met and worked with some amazing people. One such person is Nicole Somerville (photographer behind Nicole Aleise Photography) who was simply unbelievable to work with last year when she co-ordinated and shot our stunning inaugural fashion shoot for MOTIF’s nostalgia issue. We were blown away by her professionalism yes, but even more so by her keen eye for beauty and knack for uncovering sweetness in every moment. And you know what? Her engagement, wedding and pregnancy shoots are unparalleled in the Sydney photography scene. So you can understand my excitement when she granted me exclusivity to showcase a beautiful shoot she recently undertook with the sweetest couple Kate and Brett. These two lovers braved a very early morning call time and a very cold morning to capture this very special time in their lives. We can’t wait to see their wedding in February 2012.
